Hand Built in Cornwall

Traditional Craftsmanship with Modern Engineering

In an age of mass production and disposable appliances, Heritage Range Cookers takes a different approach. From our family-run workshop in Liskeard, Cornwall, every cooker is hand-built to order using traditional craftsmanship, carefully selected materials and modern engineering principles designed to deliver long-term reliability, efficiency and performance.

The roots of Heritage lie in the original Cornish Range, a cooker developed nearly 200 years ago that became known for dependable heat and practical cooking in rural homes. At Heritage we have taken that same philosophy and re-engineered it for modern living, creating range cookers that combine timeless design with responsive heating, improved efficiency and flexible fuel options.

Every Heritage Range Cooker is assembled by hand by our skilled team of engineers and fabricators. Unlike many modern appliances produced on automated production lines, Heritage Cookers are individually built and tested, allowing close attention to detail at every stage. This also means customers can tailor their cooker to suit the way they live, from fuel type and heating requirements through to colour and trim finish.

Construction is deliberately heavy duty, designed to create a cooker that feels solid, retains heat effectively and resists distortion over decades of use. Layered insulation is equally important to the design, helping improve heat conservation and fuel efficiency while maintaining stable cooking temperatures. The result is a cooker that provides consistent, even heat rather than the fluctuating temperatures often associated with lighter appliances.

Internally, Heritage combines traditional construction with modern control systems. Components from respected manufacturers including Honeywell, Bentone and Danfoss are used throughout the ranges to provide accurate thermostatic control, reliable burner performance and straightforward servicing. These systems allow Heritage Cookers to respond far more quickly than older-style heat storage ranges, with many models ready for cooking within around 20 minutes.

Heritage offers both oil-fired and electric range cookers, giving homeowners flexibility depending on their property and lifestyle.

The oil-fired models are particularly popular in rural homes, farmhouses and off-grid locations. Running on kerosene, diesel or approved biofuels, they can provide cooking, hot water and central heating from one appliance. Depending on the model chosen, some Heritage cookers are capable of heating up to 25 radiators while still delivering excellent cooking performance. These models are available in several sizes, including the compact Uno, the versatile Compact, the Standard range and the larger Grande models for serious cooking and larger households.

The electric range cookers provide the same traditional appearance and robust construction but with modern plug-and-play simplicity. They are especially popular in contemporary homes or properties with solar installations. Available in Duo and Trio oven configurations, the electric models combine generous cooking capacity with responsive hotplates, precision control and excellent heat retention.

One of the defining features of Heritage is that every cooker is still built in Cornwall by a relatively small, experienced team. That local production allows Heritage to maintain close quality control while also responding directly to customer feedback and evolving homeowner needs. It is craftsmanship with accountability behind it.

Before leaving the workshop, each cooker is assembled, tested and hand finished to ensure it meets the company’s standards for performance and reliability. It is a slower, more considered way of manufacturing, but one that results in a product built for decades rather than years.

For homeowners looking for a range cooker that combines British craftsmanship, technical engineering and everyday practicality, Heritage offers something increasingly rare: a hand-built appliance designed to become part of the home for generations.
